CANC2: Nanutarra, August 1

An "action day" when we campaign and generally make a nuisance of ourselves. At least that's the theory. With Nanutarra (pop 5) being a bit empty we decide to sit round and read, or educate ourselves in other ways. I read John's printouts from the web about solar energy, and talk with him. Then we play 500 for a while and I try to teach people Canasta. One hand is (more than) enough.

Had a good evening, talk with people (Erin, John) about stuff that bothers us, John has talked to Beth and seems happier with her again. They were a bit strained for a while. He's now talked to her as well as Erin about it and things are more peaceful. Which is good, because I'm getting annoyed again that things have not changed after the Karratha meeting.

Talking to Erin about it she says that even she finds it hard in a group this big to be in touch with everyone all the time. The group is also very woman- oriented, a lot of time is spent making sure everyone feels right about things and that everyone is happy that everyone else is happy. I think this causes the difficulty when simple only-one- right-way things have to be done - some of the women resist fixed procedures for whatever reason, and get angry when other people insist on them. Count me as in favour of fixed procedures when it comes to peoples safety and health. I don't care what feels right, drive on the left hand side of the goddamn road.
