I built the tandem partly for this reason - why not read when you're
in a boring part of the ride. People were surprised that I didn't want
to drive every inch of the way, but I was happier on the back. Except
for the gears. Hmm, maybe next time the stoker gets the gear levers
even if that makes it hard to ride solo.
